RIVERSIDE TROJAN CLASS OF 1973

Michael Williams

Michael Anthony Williams entered this life on September 14 1955. After high school graduation he spent nine years in the U.S. Air Force and spent 34 years living and coaching boys and girls basketball. Mike returned to the U.S. in 2012 where he attended and coached men and women's basketball. He was blessed to have the love of many family members.

I first met Michael on orientation day of the 1st grade at East Fifth Street Elementary school. We both lived in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and grew to love each other as brothers. Michael was a lot of fun to be around because he had this amazing talent for doing and creating the unexpected resulting in the most fascinating consequences. Many of his schemes were funny and painful to himself and me. Growing up in the neighborhood with other brothers like Gregory Odum, Andre Willis, Donald Handley, Larry, Jeff and Ronald White we forged many memories. Mike had a flare for innovation and trendsetting. I remember in high school at Riverside he wore mix-matched shoes as part of his GQ persona.

I can't adequately express how happy I was when he returned home from Italy to stay. We were able to catch up on over 30 years of living and to create new memories. Our interactions in class reunions, community activities and fellowship is very precious to me. I count it an honor, privilege and blessing having known him in this life and thru Christ Jesus the life to come!
